This ambiguous scene is based on Leonardo da Vinci’s trip through the Alps on a mule in 1516. Da Vinci carried some valuable paintings, including the “Mona Lisa”, which he intended to give to the King of France. During his ride, he imagines himself creating a painting that depicts his journey over the Alps. If you focus on his facial characteristics, you might even catch a glimpse of what Da Vinci imagined… and did.
